Went to Spirit Lake on 3/6 to put some perch in the freezer for the Lenten Season. First ice fishing trip of the year and it reminded me why I don't waste any effort in the Cedar Valley at ice fishing for panfish. Got on the lake at 9:00am and had my limit of 25 8"-9"perch by 9:45am, with one 10.25" I'm glad I didn't show up much later because the bite slowed severly at 10:00. Left the lake around noon to grab lunch and go to the Berkley Outlet Store and was back fishing around 3:00. The bite was slow with a lot of lookers and few takes until 5:00pm and it turned on again until 6:00. I could have kept another limit if I wasn't already full:roll: I was using a 5mm Fiskas jig with gold and greenish white my best colors tipped with 2-3 spikes. Drove in from the west end of the lake out of Buffalo Run Access. The access was a bit tore up, but should last another week or two. If you want to catch some fish head west! It took me 3.5 hours from the garage to the lake access.

Re: Spirit Lake Perch
Good job Kyle and you asked me to go too! Me and Jim Allen spent a couple of days up there last Sept. and got into those perch too in the boat of course. I did have a good season around here catching some really big panfish locally. Right now is the time to get in on some of the best ice fishing of the year before runoff wrecks it. Go Panthers RH
Rooster, I'm all shot to pieces, well you asked for it.
