MWC-Detroit

Well Greg and I had a great week of pre-fishing for the tournament with lots of BIG walleyes constantly coming to the boat. It was a blast watching the planer boards disapear for 2-3 below the surface and even while reeling in they would stay down. We focused primarily on cranks such as the purple demon reef runner, purple indecesant by rapala and other such baits. Purple was the main theme. We had a flat of crawlers but found that bite to be slower. We had been pulling in 30+ lbs a day for the top five fish. We had or A spot picked out for the tourney which was called Brest Bay. (You gotta like the name)

Well the day of the tourney we were boat 10 out of 100. I went to hit the throttle at take of and lost my lower unit again. So we were in a river that we never even prefished. We caught our 13.4 lbs in about an hour in the river but not happy with the size. So the next 2 hours we spent using the kicker at full throttle (5.45 mph) going to the lake where the river feeds into to a spot called the Bannana. After a couple of long trolls we had to head back in for weigh going up stream at full throttle (3.6 mph) we pulled in about 2 minutes late. I think they felt sorry for us as we didn't get docked a late penalty.

Well after assesing our options and disapointment we decided to come home that night and not fish Saturday. But what a great week and good memories.

As for Ruby, she is currently being fixed at R&L Marine in CR. Evinrude is putting the lower unit in for free. This new unit is a bit beefier and hopefully will get us through the next tourney.

What hurts the most is knowing the winning team caught all their fish in Brest Bay.

p.s. If you get a chance ask Greg about the toilet paper.

Well Ranger Doug,
If Greg had not been thinking about brests he would have not interferred with your
driving Ruby Red. Everyone knows you have to work up to top speed slowly. You can't just pour the cobs to it all at once.
Old Ruby has to start slowly.........Then the climax, Not a Calamity

Old Fisheye Here......
