Fished the Mississppi backwaters Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I fished Norwegian Lake in the Sny Magill area. Did not get there until about 10:30. By then there was already around 40 trucks in the lot. I only caught around 10 small bluegill in 7 to 9 feet of water. Everybody i talked to said it was slow. A lot of people fishing tipups but no action. I left early to do some scouting for Sunday.
Sunday i ended up north of Lansing about 4 miles. Fished the upper end of Phillippi Lake. There was a bout 14 inches of ice and about 2 feet of water. I caught around 60 bluegills and kept 20. It was a sunny day and sitting in the tent allowed me to see the fish come to the bait. I saw a lot of fish but a large majority of them would come to the bait and either fade away or nip at it real lightly.
