Father's Day Weekend on Storm Lake

I took my family to Storm Lake for Father's Day weekend with the goal of having my daughter catch her first walleye. With all the recent rain the lake is up 3-4 ft since our tournament in April and the water is very dirty for Storm Lake. The walleyes were bunched up and we were able to get on some fish Saturday evening and Sunday morning. We were trolling through the schools of fish and getting 1-2 bites per pass, all slots or dinks. I was having a great time helping my daughter reel in 17"-20" fish, when a planar board went under. I reeled up to the board and took it off, adjusted the drag, and handed the reel to Mommy. I got the net and figured it was a big catfish because we had been catching a few. The fish came to the surface, into the net, and on the floor of the Ranger. I couldn't believe my eyes! 28" walleye, 13" girth, and my scale read 6 lb 8 oz. It was a trying weekend with a trip to the hospital on Friday evening with a sick boy, feeling static shocks while reeling in rods from a lightening cloud directly above us Saturday evening, and trying to keep two kids entertained and Mommy happy while on the boat. But we caught fish and it will be a Father's Day weekend I will never forget! Once I talk with Blackeagle and learn how to upload pics, I will post a couple.

Good job on spending Fathers day with the family. email me your pics and I can put them in, or edit your post and look towards the bottom of the page and where it says upload attachment click on that. It's easy to do after you've done it once. Make sure your pics are sized around the 480x480 size.

Sounds like you had quite the weekend. Do you have frazzled hair from the lightning charges -- or did it just turn white like the secretary's.

Here are the pics! No frazzled or white hair, but not a good feeling when you don't know while grabbing a rod to reel it in if the big bolt might be coming down!!!
