Well I have a short story on our (Walleye Carl, Fisheye, and our Contracted Red Wing guide,
Dave Cook, ) trip to fish the Mighty Mississippi at Red Wing.
Left at O-Dark Thirty, Started our big catch all the fish in the river day at 9:30 am. Watched 3 boats owners try and start their boats for the 1st time of the year with no success and had to reload them back on the trailer and then say “It started okay when I put it away last fall”.
We went to the Dam area along with about 100 other boaters. Fished for 2 hours with nothing and failed to see any fish boated. Then moved to Hay Creek and again nothing and seen no fish boated. Then moved all the way to the ice at Lake Pepin, and again no fish. Then moved back to the dam after a few stops at secret places, with no results again. At the dam things picked up, there were more boats and still no fish. Did see two fish boated. Big Carp and a Quillback. Walleye Carl got excited………

At 6pm we loaded our guide’s boat and paid our guide fees and he said he was sorry we were such bad fishermen. He stated that he has never seen such bad fishing at Red Wing.
So, No Fish Caught, No fish Seen, No Fish bites, not even “Oh I just missed that one” Nothing,
Just a nice Bright Sunny, no wind, 60 degree day on the river at Red Wing.
Did I mention Dave has never fished at Red Wing.

All the way there, Carl & I told him how great of a fish day it was going to be. I think a remark was heard saying if you can’t catch fish at Red Wing you might consider retiring from fishing…Ha HA
Well as usual just spreading the true facts of fishing.
