Got home this afternoon from Detroit had a great time fishing with Kyle and Adam, Marty and Carl Dave Ben and Russ.
We hit the river at the best time to catch fish during the spawn. There were big fish being caught by all and it was tough to decide were to start for the tournament.

What a problem to have!

Mickey and I fished the first day in a spot that my son Ben and I found two years ago pre-fishing, an area that mostly holds pre-spawn females, you don't catch numbers but the ones you do catch are big.
The tournament was won there last year by Marty and Carl.

Day one: We had 5 good fish by 9:15 and the bite slowed way down and we left. Went and fished many other spots and Mickey caught a 8.75 lb. female at noon and we culled our 7lb.der. Our small fish for the day was 8.3lbs.

Day two: Different story went to same area fished till 10:00 am. caught 2 fish, maybe 7lbs. together. left went to many different spots, nothing, starting to feel the pressure, noon still only two small fish in the box. went to another area got 5 good fish and was able to upgrade.

The river got dirty Saturday and fishing was slower for us and others.

If you want to catch a lot of big fish, go to Detroit shortly after ice out. It is unbelievable!
