Might have to check into getting extensions for the ice auger.

I bought a 40v ION auger and I believe it is as fast as a power one and only weighs 22lb which is really nice. It comes with a 12" extention and that might not be enough. RH

Back in the 80's I probably could take -80, but today I'm not sure if my old ass can take -30. Have a Happy New Year Fish Eye and to all the other GREAT Fishermen and women in the World.

So who all is planning to go on the trip and how many people are in their group? And where are you staying? Just trying to figure out how many people we have going.

Also, it sounds like there is a youth hockey tournament going on in DL the same weekend and the hotels are expected to be full. One of the owners (a family friend) of the Cobblestone called me and asked if I would give up any of the rooms early, as we only have 4 rooms booked in the block. I did not give up any rooms yet but make sure you are telling the receptionist when you call that you are apart of the Cedar Valley Walleye Club group.

Chase we have a room reserved at Cobblestone and I think W. Ertz does too. There will be 2 or 3 in our group going. RH

The Devils Lake Anglers Association would like to have a club get together Saturday Feb. 17th. It will be at Ed's Bait Shop and Bar starting at 5:30pm. Chili and sandwiches will be provided by Real Estate 7. This is a great opportunity to pick the brains of some of Devils Lakes best fisherman and and learn about the lake. Maybe even get a few more spots to try on Sunday.

Current ice thickness on DL is about 20 inches. I recommend that you pack auger extensions because there is also snow on the ice. Trucks are still able to get around the lake fine. The only issue that people have been having is that some of the drifts are getting hard packed so as you drive over them you may break through the crusted snow and get stuck. So bring a shovel and tow strap with just in case this happens. It is cold up there so make sure to pack good warm cloths and bring your heaters along. I recommend a 20lb tank also. It sounds like the bite is still pretty good so hopefully we get in on the action while we are there. If you have any questions on what to pack feel free to post on here or come to Monday's meeting.
