HELP NEEDED!!!!
WHAT: Cedar River Mussel Rescue
WHEN: This Friday,Saturday and maybe Sunday.
September 29th.,30th. and October 1st.
WHERE: Washington Access in Cedar Falls to the Waterloo Boat House.
WHY? On Thursday September 28th. the City of Waterloo will be lowering the Bladder Dam. The river is projected to drop around 4 feet over night. If we do nothing this will leave 1000's of Mussels exposed out of water and on the sandbars. These Mussels are a vital part of the rivers ecosystem and need to be saved.
If you, or if you know people that would be willing to help out please let them know about this event.
There is a meeting TONIGHT at the Cedar Falls Tourism building at 6510 Hudson Rd. from 6 to 7:30 to go over identification and the plan for this weekend.
Equipment Needed: Kayaks, Canoes or shallow running flat bottom boats, buckets to hold Mussels until moved to deeper water.

Also Saturday October 7th. will be our annual Walleye stocking and Road cleanup day. We will start at 7:30am. at Dike Lake then travel to Big Woods Lake (North Boat Ramp) and then meet on the East Side of Hwy. 218 on the Lone tree Rd. exit.
More manpower is needed for the road cleanup and not so much at the stocking so if you can't or don't want to do all the traveling please be at Hwy. 218 and Lone Tree Rd. by 9am. If all goes well we should be done by 11am.
NOTE; if you have not helped out at TWO Club events this year to meet the qualifications for next years N.T.C. the mussel rescue and road cleanup will be your last opportunity to do so.
