Guttenberg Tournament

Post by Limit »

Due to rising water we MAY have to switch locations for the March 28th Guttenberg tournament. Talked to the head guy (Marvin) at L&D 10 in Guttenberg this morning (3/17) and he said the municipal ramp will get shut down if the river reaches 14 ft. Right now the river is at 10.68ft, forcasted to rise to 13ft by 3/24, and who knows after that. We will keep our eye on the river level, the tournament board is meeting on Sunday evening (3/21), and a final decision will be made then.

Repeat!!! THE MARCH 28TH TOURNAMENT IS STILL SCHEDULED ON POOL 11, LAUNCHING OUT OF THE GUTTENBERG MUNICIPAL BOAT LANDING.

If we decide to change locations all entered anglers will be contacted via phone and we will post it on the forum. Please check back next Monday (3/22) to see what is going on.

If you would like, please post a reply to where you think the tournament should be moved to, if we have to go that route. Take into consideration the river level and ramp access.

I was there yesterday fished from 8 to 5 caught a few, mostly shorts. The river was moving it was tough to hold on structure alot of junk floating down. Gates were all open. The wing dams were fishable as long as you were moving up river, trying to slip the current was unproductive, fish were just picking baits up and holding so the drift may have been a little quick for them. I am game for anything just sharing my experience from yesterday.

Wow greg. Nice report for the conditions. I thought the river was unsafe to use acording to the tourny bourd so I stayed home. Oh Well. Guess I'll head up to Harpers where I've caught a lot of eyes in high water. I'll let you know if and where the bite is. Go Fish! --WINGDING!

Wingding - Guy's report was from the 18th (check the time stamp on the report). A week before the crest. Has anybody checked it out today?

Looks like Guttenberg crested at 13.2 and I hear the parking lot is under water
at 14 so pretty close call. Thats why we have a tournament board to make
those decisions. But I have to say me and the old flat bottom were ready to get
after the high water.DK

Greg, you might try calling the Falling Rock for a report on conditions on pool 10.
