LANSING TOURNAMENT REPORT

Post by Limit »

Finally, I have time to post a tournament report! The fall fishing on the Mighty Miss this time of year is usually as good as it gets, but it was tough for our club anglers this past weekend. The severe cold front that came through the area on Thursday put the fish in a negative mood, but one team was able to put the puzzle together and weigh the largest 2-day basket in CVWC history.

We had 15 boats fish the tournament and only 3 boats were able to bring fish to the scales both days. We only had 2 limits weighed all weekend and from what I heard our top team would of had a limit on the final day, but it must be easier to catch 6 pound walleyes than count to 5! Finishing in 5th place with a total of 3 fish for 5.72 lbs was the team of Zach "BassMaster" Bindert & Brad "I Hope Zach's Motor Gets us Back to Weigh-In" Behrens. Finishing in 4th place with 1 beautiful walleye for 6.68 lbs was our President Darrell "The Big Fish Pot Looks Like a Good Idea Now" Kinkade. Finishing in 3rd place with a total of 4 fish for 7.04 lbs was the brothers Larry & Jerry "I Can't Think of a Nickname" Schilling. Finishing in 2nd place with a limit on the final day was the team of Doug "Angler of the Year" Bonwell and Lynn "My Wife Caught an 11 Pound Walleye While We Were Focused on Other Matters Under a Starry Sky" Bonwell. Finishing in 1st place and lapping the field more than once with an awesome bag of 9 fish for 27.56 lbs anchored by two 6 plus pound walleyes, which won the big fish pot, was the team of Jim "My Truck is the Cleanest in the Club Because it Takes Baths" Dengler and Tony "You Sure we Have 5 Fish in the Livewell" Jochumsen. Great Job Jim & Tony!

Taking Angler of the Year honors for 2012 is Doug Bonwell! I forgot to mention this at the end of the weigh-in on Sunday and I'm sorry Doug. Very strong finish to a great year, good job!

Thanks to all the anglers for their support of the CVWC Tournaments this year! And thanks to the Tournament Board members for their help this year.
