Red Wing Weekend

Post by WALLEYE1 »

Our group slugged it out at the dam. Sonars were the best lures. Parrot or chartruese colors. 21" was biggest eye with quite a few nice saugers. Reports were crappie fishing was really good with a lot of big slabs. RH
Rooster, I'm all shot to pieces, well you asked for it.

North end of the can line was excellent Saturday-jigged all day, ring worm/gold jig and chartruse/red&green split twister tail. 7 to 13 ft water.
Sunday, Nov 13. Mid can line several 19" sauger :D

Thanks to Doug & Phil - for putting on the fish fry, they worked very hard and deserve a round of applause :D :D Everyone brough some kind of food to share and we really did have a smorgasboard (sp) :)

Weather was great & fishing was great --- you may keep tuned to this post -- Fisheye news guys may show up with interesting tibits about the weekend

Thanks to all the other guys for a great weekend :D :D :D

Thanks to Kyle for a great idea and thanks to Doug and Phil for cooking the fish.
Jim and I had a great time, I kind of missed out on the Bingo and the girly bar.
Well it will just give me something to look forward to next year.

Another big thank you to Doug and Phil for frying up the fish, tator tots, and poppers. It was really good.

We chose to skip the dam crowds and skipped the cans. We chose some quiet out of the way places and only caught one 16" walleye and several small sauger. We were rewarded however with some jumbo crappies, large mouth and GIANT line peeling carp. I thought for sure my St. Croix would be toast! We kept 12 crappie for the fish fry and released probably that many or more. Sunday we thought about the dam but went quiet again. The rewards were the same. We knew we would be too tired to clean anything when we got home, so it was all catch and release. There were some DANDY crappies left for the next time.

Looked like Wing Ding had a good guide!

We had a great time.

What a nice weekend with a Great group of fisherman. Thanks to everyone who pitched in with the food and supplies for the fry that Kyle planned out. Sorry Phil and I didn't make it to the Girlie bar, but we want to live to do it again next year. I heard Walt and Matt had a good time there. (only the facts, not wanting to start any rumors)

Thanks again EVERYONE!

Doug

Wow what a trip. It was a pleasure fishing the miss. without all the grass we have down the river by Genoa and Lansing. Kyle you come up with some pretty good ideas sometimes. This was one! Great job one the fish fry doug and phil. Yes doug I forgot to bleed out our walleyes and got blood all over your cleaning table. Thanks to your best new friend it got cleaned up. By the way I heard doug is in the tacle business selling one eyes for only 5 bucks apiece. Look out Matt. Santa gave me quit a ride in the flat bottom. Put us on fish all three days. Way to go obd. All I can say is WHAT A WEEKEND! Good Friends, Good Fishing, Good Food, Good Times, & Great Weather!!! Thanks to everyone who made the trip, it made for a fun bunch of fishermen. Thanks to Doug & Phil for their hard work cooking the fish. Thanks for everyone pitching in and supplying something for the fish fry. And thanks to Brice, Mitch, Matt, Dave, Ben, & Greg for a fun night on Saturday, I got to bed about the same time I woke up on Friday morning to leave! I'm already planning for next November. We have a great club of fishermen!

Just to correct WingDing. I gave them two one eyes. As I'm not authorized with a permit to sell anything. Apparently I heard they gave Jim $20 for these and I ended up with only $10 of it. I'm guessing that there was a delivery charge applied somewhere. At the cookout they also offered me $20 to help with the food. And yes I turned it down. On a serious note, I do think the club members impressed these guys with hospitality and kindness. Two thumbs up!!
