Re: Inflatable PFD's

They do vary slightly by state. For the most part states adopt the USCG rules and modify as they see fit. The link below summarizes laws by state. Click on section 4.9 Life Jackets and it will list each state.

Re: Inflatable PFD's

I am not sure how old that article is and the author does not site his sources. It may be that when they first came out, they were required to be worn. My reference has been the USCG and Iowa DNR sites. The following links only reference that it must be approved, accessible and serviceable to be cou...

Re: Inflatable PFD's

I have a Mustang. There are a couple of different type of triggers used. One type uses a tablet that will dissolve when it gets wet and set off the vest. The other uses a pressure sensor that requires the sensor to be under a few inches of water before it will go off. The advantage of the pressure s...

Re: Old Fisheye on Guided Trip to Red Wing

As you can imagine, any trip with Fisheye and Carl is an adventure. ;) On the drive up, Fisheye spent most of his time informing me of all the fish we were about to catch  while Carl spent most of his time napping in the back seat. Occasionally Carl would sit up and nod his head. Initially I ...

New Albin

Ice fished near New Albin on Saturday. More specifically we were on Fish Lake. Bite was slow. Caught, and saw caught, a few perch and bluegills. Several guys had tip-ups set out and we saw at least 3 nice pike caught. Several were fishing in the backwater just east of the boat ramp. There was 15.5 i...

Pool 9

Fished Genoa today. Ramp and river wide open. Lots of fog. Caught several eyes/saugers, 1 pike and 1 perch. Most fish we caught and saw caught were on the small side. Most were caught dragging jigs up or down stream in 12-15 ft. In the morning there were about 25 people ice fishing Desoto Bay. No id...

Hey Buddy - glad to hear you are doing well. Make sure you listen to your doctor, nurses and, most importantly, your wife during your recovery.

2015 MN Trailer Training

Just saw this on Walleye Central. Starting in 2015, you will have to take AIS training and have a sticker on your trailer to transport a boat in Minnesota.

Mille Lacs and Bellevue

I fished Mille Lac for the first time last Mon, Tues and Wed (AM). Stayed in Isle. Winds limited mobility the first two days. We primarily targeted Smallies on the southeast side from Big Point down to Isle Bay. Overall a decent trip. Caught several smallies including four 18" - 19". Also ...

Re: Website Improvement Suggestion

I think I figured out a trick. If I touch and hold the special events tab until the menu pops up (but not long enough for the open in new tab menu to pop up) and then swipe down, the menu will stay up. Then touch and hold the wildbunch menu item until the new menu pops up - swipe toward the new menu...
